Happy unification of rationality and emotions

Vicenza - With a sophisticated exhibition the young and international emerging artist Andrea
Bianconi celebrates the exhibition space by Carlo Scarpa in the Biblioteca Internationale “La
Vigna” in Vicenza.

Andrea Bianconi is invited by the Biblioteca Internazionale “La Vigna” and the Fondazione
Vignato per l’Arte to make an exhibition of the former Casa Gallo in the building of the library.
The apartment and private museum Casa Gallo was built by the world famous and genius
architect Carlo Scarpa in the sixties for his friend and lawyer Ettore Gallo. Now, the Italian
and New York based artist Andrea Bianconi includes in the exhibition concept the
architecture of the national historic monument with its cosy rooms around a bright and open
atrium. “A library is a place of knowledge but it also shows all that we don’t know, therefore it
has an existential significance.” Bianconi says.

In fact, the exhibition is a homage to great spirits, the existence and deep emotions. With his
typical hyper-decorated and baroque-like sculptures, collages, drawing and pictures Andrea
Bianconi sets up a side specific and all-over installation. It is like a round trip through his
reflections and experiences about books and information, the freedom of the mind, and his
wife Sonia as the most important person in his life: book towers make visible the topography
of knowledge, a black hole swallows all the cognition, a table tells a love story, and a video
makes us laugh and dance forever and ever.

To develop an adequate exhibition concept, Andrea Bianconi invites the international curator
and art critic Oliver Orest Tschirky. Together they realize a system for the artistic
interpretation of the complex subjects of knowledge, awareness and adoration that equally
combines all the mentioned aspects. And finally, when knowledge is rational and feelings are
emotional, Andrea Bianconi is able to do the impossible - bringing happily together the
antipodes of rationality and emotions.
