Furini Arte Contemporanea at Volta6 Basel

In Volta 6 Furini Arte Contemporanea gallery is plased to present a project with the theme of the misunderstanding and the splitting of the meaning. All the three artists work around the opposition/conflict between the sense, appearance, use within objects, contests and personalities. Usually the cohabitation of the multiple-meaning of outside/inside/use generate confusion, embarassment because it caches unpreparated. You look at something but you mean some others. Everything is built on ambiguity and you need a suggestion to see the 'other side'. This project analyses with irony, sarcasm and disenchantment the complex construction of the idea we have of the people, the contests and the society where we live in.

VOLTA is a platform for presenting the vision of contemporary art galleries of global repute whose artists represent new and relevant positions for curators and collectors alike. Conceived to bridge a gap between Basel's pre-existing fairs, VOLTA showcases galleries – whether young or mature – that choose as their mandate to work with the most exciting emerging artists. The galleries are selected by an annually changing group of Curators to give each edition its own clear identity and to redirect focus back on the art producers as well as their representing galleries.

The 2010 Curatorial Board is composed of Adam Budak, Curator of Kunsthaus Graz and co-curator of Manifesta 7; Jacopo Crivelli Visconti, Critic & Curator, Sâo Paulo, Christoph Doswald, Art Critic and Curator, Zurich; Jasper Sharp, Curator and Writer, Vienna; and Stephanie Smith, Curator at Smart Museum of Art, Chicago.
